RARE FLYERS take on the epic Parish Walk challenge
This past weekend, our unstoppable RARE FLYERS laced up their walking shoes and took on one of the Isle of Man’s most iconic endurance events, the Parish Walk.
Ash, Becca, Vaughan, Thomas, and Dan set out with determination (and perhaps a little nervous excitement) to tackle the gruelling 85-mile (137 km) course, which winds its way through all 17 of the island’s parishes, and all within 24 hours. No small feat! Especially considering this event has a strict no-running policy. It’s walk or go home… literally. Any runner is immediately disqualified.
The team weren’t just walking for glory, they were walking for a cause close to their hearts: Riding for the Disabled Isle of Man (RDA). And wow, did they feel the love. The RDA crew were out in full cheer squad mode, pom-poms and all, offering a massive boost of energy with every shout and wave.
And here’s the best part, the RARE FLYERS didn’t just meet their fundraising goal, they smashed it!
To give you a sense of just how tough this challenge is, around 90% of participants don’t make it to the finish line. It’s as much a mental battle as a physical one. But our team dug deep and pushed hard.
Shoutout to Dan, who got the furthest of the team, completing a phenomenal 67 miles in 18 hours, 38 minutes, and 51 seconds. That’s an achievement that deserves serious applause.
The Parish Walk is not for the faint-hearted, but the RARE FLYERS showed exactly what they’re made of — grit, heart, and a whole lot of spirit. We couldn’t be prouder.
Until next year… rest those feet, team!
