Golf Day with a Heart

Last week, our very own Operations Manager, Shaun, swapped spreadsheets for sand traps as he joined three friends Gert, Clinton and Kobus, at the MTS Golf Day Fundraiser, sponsored by RARE AIR, at the Richards Bay Country Club. With clear skies overhead and great company all around, the event was a hole-in-one kind of day – and all for an incredible cause.

Thoughtfully organised by Chaplain Mark, the fundraiser supported the inspiring work of The Mission to Seafarers – Africa Region. Mark, a driving force behind the organisation, shared their heartfelt mission:

“We visit seafarers on board their vessels, in hospitals, at hotels, and even in quarantine – wherever they are, we go. Our goal is to support them however we can – spiritually, emotionally, psychologically, and practically.”

The Mission to Seafarers provides crucial support to the men and women who spend months at sea. Through their Seafarers' Centre, they’ve even launched an online store, enabling crew members to order essentials – and a few home comforts – with delivery directly to their ships.

But above all, their work is about connection and compassion. As Mark so simply put it:

“At the end of the day, what makes us happiest is seeing a seafarer truly happy. That’s what we’re here for. That’s our passion.”
